The Associated Subcontractors of Massachusetts (ASM) is the source of answers to questions on building construction and contracting in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
For more than 50 years, ASM has been the voice on Beacon Hill for hundreds of subcontractors employing thousands of people across the state. Subcontractors perform at least 80% of the work on every building construction project.
ASM is the place where reporters and policy makers can connect with subcontractors throughout the state to get information about current or upcoming construction projects, and insight into the impact of legislative proposals.
In the 2007-08 legislative session, ASM is actively involved in high profile and economically important issues such as
- The most efficient, cost-effective way to build public buildings
- Competitive bidding process; fairness in award of public contracts
- Implementation of public construction reform
- Alternative methods of procurement (design build, construction management)
- Fair contract provisions and payment practices… as a way to improve quality and lower construction costs
- Jobsite Safety
ASM can be a useful resource on any articles highlighting construction projects, contract awards, subcontracting companies, or construction-related legislation.
Please contact ASM, or connect with one of its members through Executive Director Monica Lawton.
