- Find A Subcontractor
Founded in 1950, the Associated Subcontractors of Massachusetts (ASM) today represents nearly 400 subcontractors as well as suppliers and affiliated organizations in Massachusetts and surrounding states. ASM is the only organization in the Commonwealth dedicated exclusively to the business issues affecting subcontractors, who perform more than 80% of the work on all major building construction in the state.
Our members work in every specialty trade, from steel erection to painting, and in every related service industry, from insurance to accounting. ASM represents both union and open shops, and our member companies range in size from the smallest start-up firms to the largest specialty contractors in the region. You will find ASM members on virtually every major building project in the Commonwealth, in both the public and private sector.
ASM provides information, resources and contacts to help you run your business more profitably.
We also work hard every day to protect your interests and promote fair business practices throughout the construction industry.
ASM's mission is to protect and advance the interests of all subcontractors and suppliers and promote professionalism in public and private construction through education, communication and advocacy.
National Subcontractors Alliance (NSA)
ASM is a Founding Member of the National Subcontractors Alliance (NSA), formed in 2002 to connect subcontractor associations across the United States and provide a forum to exchange information, and influence the national debate on construction issues. NSA includes 14 of the largest, most active and most successful subcontractor associations in the country, who come together each year at a national conference that generates a wealth of information to share with ASM members. NSA is a member of the Associated Specialty Contractors (ASC), and is one of over 40 organizations that have endorsed the ConsensusDOCS model contract documents.
This suite of 100+ standard-form contract documents has been developed by a coalition of leading associations representing general contractors, subcontractors and other industry stakeholders, as an alternative to the standard AIA forms. The Documents incorporate best industry practices, with the goal of achieving the best possible project outcome. ASM members are eligible for a discount on the forms, which can be purchased at www.consensusdocs.org.
