ASM's National Connection
ASM is a Founding Member of the National Subcontractors Alliance (NSA), formed in 2002 to provide a new forum for subcontractor associations across the country to exchange information, and influence the national debate on construction issues. Today, NSA includes 14 of the largest and most successful subcontractor associations in the country, representing more than 3,500 member firms. In addition to ASM, NSA includes chapters from Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Texas.
NSA leaders come together each year at a national conference (held this year April 1-2 in San Antonio) that generates a wealth of information to share with ASM members. Through NSA, we learn about legislative successes in other states that provide lessons for us here, and get a heads up on emerging business, regulatory, tax or procurement issues that may make their way to Massachusetts.
In 2015, former ASM President David Cannistraro of JC Cannistraro (Watertown) assumed the role of President of the NSA for a two year term. ASM's CEO Monica Lawton serves as Secretary of the organization, while ASM's Counsel John M. Curran of Corwin & Corwin LLP serves on the NSA Attorneys Council.
Through NSA, ASM members receive discounts on a variety of essential products and services, from computer equipment to shipping services. See the Members-only section for details on the NSA "Meridian One" benefits program.
This suite of over 100 standard-form contract documents has been developed by a coalition of leading associations representing general contractors, subcontractors and other industry stakeholders. Designed as an alternative to the standard AIA documents, ConsensusDOCS have been developed through a collaborative process and incorporate best industry practices, with the goal of being fair to all parties and achieving the best possible project outcome.
ASM members receive a 20% discount on purchase of the forms. See the Members-only section for details.
